CAASPP Testing for 3rd-6th graders is around the corner!  Let’s support these amazing students by donating snacks to help them be energized and focused during standardized testing!

Peace Patrol has volunteered to help collect and organize snack packs for some upper-grade classrooms. Since there are 9 classrooms that are in need and there will be 8 days of CAASPP testing, we need A LOT of donations (those with allergies will be given another snack). Here is what we need:

Please consider buying around 30 of one of these items. That would cover 1 class for 1 day of testing. Feel free to donate more!

When to donate: After school in the office
Dates to donate: Monday, April 17 to Monday, May 8 (this will give us time to organize for classrooms)

Campus Safety

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Starting on April 24, 2023, the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) will start installing school security cameras at our school site as part of the School Violence Prevention Program Grant funded by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The security cameras are designed to increase safety at our school site. They will actively record to help us detect and prevent unlawful activities and ensure law enforcement can access live video surveillance seamlessly.

CVESD is committed to providing students and staff with a safe and secure learning environment. I am confident that these cameras will greatly contribute to the safety and security of our school site and help us in our ongoing efforts to prevent and address any potential threats or incidents.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school safe.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bree Watson, Principal

The Wildcat Way Apr. 10-14, 2023 (Week #31)

Hello Families!

This quarter, our Loma Verde Wildcats are focusing on character traits or problem-solving and initiative. Last week, we had our quarterly Wildcat Expectations Assembly. Every quarter, we start off by reviewing expectations and discussing upcoming events. When talking to your children daily, please encourage them to be positive, healthy friends and ensure they are not negatively pressuring their friends. As a community, kindness makes the difference, and treating others how you want to be treated. Please make sure your children are wearing appropriate clothing to school that follows our dress code. As a reminder, before students bring a cell phone to campus they must first have a signed waiver on file in the office and it must be turned in to the teacher at the start of the day. Furthermore, check their backpacks to ensure toys are not making their way to school. Thank you for your help and support. It’s going to be a great last quarter of school!

  • If your child/children are absent it is very important to call the office to report the reason for the absence (619-420-3940). Please leave a voicemail or send an email to lomaverdeschool@cvesd.org.
  • Absences that are not reported will be considered UNEXCUSED. After 3 unexcused absences and/or tardies you will receive a truancy letter.
  • If you pick up your child/children early and/or they are tardy for personal reasons this is considered unexcused.
  • Remember to bring a doctor’s note. Vacations, dentist, and doctor visits should be scheduled during our breaks whenever possible.
  • If your child misses school, they are missing out on important learning!
  • Our school staff will be scheduling SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings with parents/guardians, calling home, and doing home visits for students who are chronically absent (missing 10% of school or excessive tardies).
  • Thank you for helping to get your child to school every day and one time!
