The Wildcat Way April 13-17, 2026 (Week #31)

Hello Wildcat Families!

We’re excited to share that this quarter we are focusing on two important character traits: initiative and perseverance. Last week, we kicked things off with our Wildcat Expectations Assembly, where students reviewed school expectations and learned about all the fun and exciting events ahead!

We appreciate your support in reminding your children to be kind, respectful friends, and to follow our school dress code. If your child brings a cell phone to school, please be sure we have a signed waiver on file. And as a friendly reminder, toys should stay at home.

Attendance truly matters! Thank you for helping your child arrive at school every day, on time, and ready to learn.

We are so thankful for your continued partnership and support. Let’s finish this last quarter strong and make it a great one!

CVESD LCAP Information

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) is inviting students, families, staff, and community members to participate in the annual Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) Survey, now open through March 31, 2026.

As part of California’s Local Control Funding Formula, the LCAP helps guide district goals, actions, and investments to improve student learning and support English Learners, low‑income students, and foster youth for the remaining year of our 3-year plan. It also serves as a key tool for sharing how programs and services are selected to meet the needs of the district’s diverse student population.

Survey participants are encouraged to provide feedback on academic achievement, school climate, family engagement, English Learner support, and innovative learning opportunities. This input directly informs district planning and decisions across instruction, safety, social-emotional supports, and enrichment programs.

In the coming weeks, school sites will host informational sessions to explain the LCAP process and provide opportunities for families and staff to complete the survey in person. CVESD’s collaborative LCAP development process includes engagement with teachers, classified staff, administrators, bargaining units, parents, guardians, and students throughout the year.

The district’s LCAP goals continue to focus on improving student achievement, creating safe and inclusive environments, supporting English Learners, expanding innovative and rigorous learning experiences, and strengthening engagement among educational partners. CVESD encourages all members of the community to take part in the survey and upcoming discussions. More information is available on the district’s LCAP Webpage or by contacting your school site directly.

Spring Parent Teacher Conferences 3/12-3/19

March is just around the corner, which means parent‑teacher conferences are coming up as we close out the quarter. You should have received, or will soon receive, information from your child’s teacher about our spring conferences, scheduled for March 12–19, 2026.

Our teachers look forward to meeting with every parent or guardian. Please attend at your scheduled time or contact us if you need to reschedule. Many conferences will be student‑led, giving your child the chance to share their learning with you.

Important: All students will have minimum days during conference week 3/12-3/19, with 1:00 p.m. dismissal for 1st–6th grade (12:45 for kinder & TK). Every family is expected to participate, so please reach out to your child’s teacher if you haven’t scheduled a time.

Tips for Parents — Helpful Questions:

  • Academic Progress: How is my child doing? What are his/her strengths or areas for support?
  • Social Development: How does my child interact with classmates?
  • Behavior & Participation: Is my child engaged and contributing in class?
  • Support at Home: What can we do at home to help?

We hope these tips help you have a successful and meaningful conference. Thank you for your continued support!

Annual YMCA Giving Campaign

Hello Loma Verde Families,

We need your help to reach our goal of raising $850 in support of the YMCA! Every contribution—no matter the amount—makes a meaningful difference. Your donations help fund camps, scholarships, and other valuable YMCA programs that benefit our community.

Please feel free to share our donation link with family and friends: give.classy.org/LVWildcats

We are grateful for all the ways the YMCA supports Loma Verde families and our community.

And here’s the fun part: If we meet our school goal of $850, students will get to SLIME THE PRINCIPAL AND TEACHERS on Friday, March 19!

Thank you for your support!

Every Minute Counts!

Did you know that being just 5 minutes late each day can add up to a significant loss of learning time over the course of the school year? Every minute matters—especially in the morning when routines are set and learning begins.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of arriving at school on time every day. Building strong habits now sets the tone for a successful day and a successful year!

SDC Preschool & Preschool: Follow your teacher’s specific drop-off and pick-up instructions.

Let’s all remember to be patient, kind, and considerate—thank you for helping us keep Loma Verde safe and welcoming for everyone!

Gently Used Uniforms Needed

Has your child outgrown their school uniform? The Loma Verde Health Office needs donations of clean uniform clothes to have on hand for children who need to change clothes. If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office. We are also accepting donations of new, packaged underwear for this purpose.

BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:55. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. Students may NOT share food at school. All students eat free lunch. Click here to see the breakfast and lunch menus and nutritional information.
