THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL FOR 2020 – 2021 DISTANCE LEARNING!
Please note that the first week of school daily live interaction with teachers will be no more than 2 hours and those hours may consist of whole group, small group and individual connections. Please note: It is not an expectation at Loma Verde that all students will be on a computer screen live with the teacher for 2 solid hours.
Your child’s teacher will provide a more detailed schedule. Please let your child’s teacher know if you have concerns or need additional support.
Communication is Key!
Are you receiving information from CVESD regularly? Please ensure your contact information is up to date in our system. You can call or email the school office at 619-420-3940 or email@example.com. Please be sure to OPT-IN for text messages from our school and district by texting YES to 67587.

We will distribute materials for the first several weeks of the school year this week and next week. Please be sure to check with your child’s teacher when materials will be given out for Distance Learning. If you missed the distribution time, please stop by school between 7:30-4:00 to pick up materials.
It will help us if you have your child’s first and last name and their teacher’s name visible on your windshield as you drive through to pick up materials. Also, if you would like to return library books from last year when you come to pick up materials, please feel free to do so. Please remember to drive safely and patiently.
Preparation for the 1st Day on School on August 31
As we prepare for the first day of school, please take some time to help your child designate a quiet space for Distance Learning. Also, please help your child test out their technology and login information prior to the first day school. Students will need a functioning camera, microphone, and audio. Headphones would also be helpful. Please check with your child’s teacher for your child’s login information. If you have any technical difficulties with a device you borrowed from the school or Office365 issues, you may contact the parent help line:

Computer Devices & WIFI to Loan Families
We recommend each student have their own laptop with a camera and microphone for Distance Learning. Some tablets have compatibility issues with the Microsoft Teams platform and online learning programs.
As we enter the new school year in Distance Learning, we want to make sure that your child has the technology that he/she needs to engage fully with their instruction. If your child needs a device or wifi hotspot, please complete and submit this form below, so we can plan and prepare the devices for distribution. If you do not need a device or hotspot, please do not fill out this form. Please fill out a form for each child who needs a device. Do not fill out for a child who previously received a device. We will notify you when you device and/or WIFI hotspot are ready. Please note, the district is currently out of hotspots and have ordered more. You will be notified when they arrive.

California Compulsory Education Law
Please note that California Compulsory Education Law requires everyone between the ages of six and eighteen years of age to attend school, except sixteen- and seventeen-year-olds who have graduated from high school or passed the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) and obtained parental permission to leave.
School Site Council and ELAC
Loma Verde Elementary School needs parents and guardians to support our school through important parent groups, such as the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization), the School Site Council (often referred to as SSC), and the English Language Advisory Committee (often referred to as ELAC). The site-based groups work with the Principal, staff, and other community members to ensure that community voice is part of the shared decision making process of a public school. More details about how you can get involved will be shared in the coming weeks!
Our next School Site Council (SSC) meeting is on Tuesday, September 1 at 3:00. Email email@example.com to get a link to the SSC Zoom meeting.
Childcare at Loma Verde: Distance Learning Support Program
Loma Verde will have childcare provided by the YMCA STRETCH program on site starting September 8. We understand that there are many families with childcare concerns, but we only have a limited number of spots (30) available. Families will be notified if they have been selected to receive childcare this week based on the CVESD survey that went out in July.
