free-meals-for-kidsMarch 16-20, we will be providing FREE brown bag breakfast and lunch to children ages 1-18 from 8:00-8:30 and 11:00-12:00 in front of the school. Children must be present to receive meals. Meals are to-go only.  Due to school closures, there will be no eating areas open on campus.

The school and the school office are closed to the public this week, but we are HERE working, so please feel free to contact us with any questions.  Please call the office between 8:00 and 3:30 on school days at 619-420-3940 if you have questions or contact the Principal, Bree Watson, with questions: bree.watson@cvesd.org.

Sign up to follow the Loma Verde School Blog by entering your email address in the Follow Us text box to the right of the home page. You will get information each time the blog is updated.

Teachers will be working from home, and many will be phone conferencing with you during your previously dedicated time. If your child’s teacher did not send home a report card already, they will email you a copy of your child’s report card by March 20th.  If you have any questions regarding report cards or conferences, please contact your child’s teacher.

While at home, we encourage children to READ, READ, READ. A great way to practice writing is to keep a journal and to write letters to family and friends.

Students have access to their various computer programs.  Here are some ideas for keeping kids happy and busy during this time.  Also, students have at-home access to the computer programs they use at school. For Achieve3000 (2nd-6th), Smarty Ants (1st and some 2nd & 3rd), and Imagine Learning English and Imagine Learning Espanol, go to the CVESD students page. If using a tablet, many of the programs have a free app you can download.

CVESD has posted some helpful information about the district’s response and about staying safe during the pandemic on the district website.

Updates about school closures will be sent out via the CVESD messaging system, so please ensure we have your correct phone number and email on file. Let us know if there are any family members or care providers you would like added to our distribution list.  Text YES to 67587 to receive all CVESD and Loma Verde info via text message.

Stay safe, healthy, and calm. We will see you all on April 6th!

March 12 Safety Update

Dear Loma Verde Families and Friends,

Due to Governor Newsom’s announcement regarding canceling events involving 250 people or more,  I have made the decision to take extra precautions to protect our students and families. Please note that the Monday blacktop character assembly, ELAC Meeting, field trips, and ACE Awards scheduled for this week and next week have been canceled.

Our school is taking precautions in disinfecting desks, tables, and chairs.  We will continue to reviewed hand washing with all students and are reminding students to wash or sanitize throughout the day. Please help us by reminding your children not to share food.

In addition, we will be splitting up our students into smaller groups during lunch so they are not in such close proximity while eating. We will also ask our students to proceed to the classrooms at 7:55 to line up by their classroom doors rather than lining up on the blacktop.  Students should still participate in walking the track before school and eating breakfast at the tables if they are on campus between 7:15 and 7:55.  Students should not be in the hallways near the classrooms until after the bell rings at 7:55.

Please be sure to read the following update from the Superintendent.   Our district is working closely with the CDC as well as the California Department of Public Health.

Please email me if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you for your understanding.

Yours in safety,

Mrs. Bree Watson – Principal
