Hello Loma Verde Wildcats!  What a fun week we had!  Here are a few pictures to highlight our learning.  Mrs. Smarty Plants visited our school to teach the students all about plants and the Saturday Science Scholars shared their learning with their peers.

coffee chatThursday, Dec. 6: Coffee with the Principal – Topic: Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports at Loma Verde 8:15-9:15 a.m. in the auditorium.  Please come and join us to hear about the many supports we have in place to help our students develop their social-emotional learning and be successful at school. Babysitting and coffee provided along with translation in Spanish.

Thursday, Dec. 6: Dual Immersion Kindergarten-2nd grade Winter Program 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the auditorium. Families, please join us to hear songs in both English and Spanish about the winter season and holiday traditions in different countries.

 

hour-of-code-logoFriday, Dec. 7: Hour of Code Activities K-6   Loma Verde will be coding on 12/7.  Upper-grade classrooms are teaming up with primary students to code together.  This is an exciting event and part of an international Hour of Code that schools are taking part in around the world!  Check out the Hour of Code website to try it at home.  It’s free!

WE ARE THANKFUL FOR OUR LOMA VERDE WILDCATS!

images-1We have the best students, staff, and families at Loma Verde! Thank you all for making our school such a wonderful place to learn.  We are also appreciative of all our families that donated canned goods for our annual food drive.  We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families and look forward to seeing you all back at school tomorrow, November 26,  for a full day of learning.

A few reminders:

  • School starts at 8:00 am.  Students should be on the blacktop, ready to start at this time.  Please drop off your child no later than 7:55 am to ensure he/she is ready for the day.
  • Students who are not picked up by 2:45 pm will check into the office for safety reasons.  Parents/Guardians will check students out of the office.
  • Rain is in the forecast for this upcoming week.  Please use extra patience in and around the parking lot.

Parents/Guardians Visiting at Lunch – Parents and guardians are welcome to join their child for lunch during scheduled lunch times.  Please sit with your child at the marked table either in the lunchroom or in the lunch arbor.  You must sign into the office anytime you come on campus during the school day and wear a visitor sticker.  Thank you!

A Few Reminders:

  1.  Please remember to park in open parking spaces only and not those that have been reserved for staff members.
  2. Please do not drop off or wait for children in the bus loop or you may be cited.
  3. Students waiting to be picked up at the end of the day should be standing near the front of the school and not running around.
  4. When waiting for your child at the end of the day please do not stand in front of student bathrooms, peak in windows, or block classroom doorways.
  5. Students who are not picked up within 10 minutes after the end of the day will be brought to the office.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

Cell Phone Waivers – Students that bring cell phones to school must have a cell phone waiver on file in the office.  Cell phone must be turned off when they come on campus.  Teacher collect cell phones at the start of school and return them at the end of the day.  Cell phone waivers can be picked up in the office.

Parent Chaperones on Field Trips – We appreciate our volunteers!  Parents/guardians that chaperone field trips must still sign into the office with a picture I.D.  This includes parents/guardians that drive themselves to the field trip destination.  Please see our secretary in the office to sign in and get your visitor sticker.  Thank you!

Our 6th graders visited our new CVESD maker space Energy Station at Muroaka Elementary to learn careers and clean energy.

It’s been a busy week filled with learning and fun!  Loma Verde Elementary is an awesome place!

Thank you, PTO, for an amazing Fall Festival!  Thank you to all the volunteers that helped make the afternoon so much fun for our families!  We will be letting you know the amount raised from the Fall Festival.

Loma Verde chorus sang the National Anthem for our Kids Heart Challenge event on 10/26.

It was a busy week at Loma Verde!  We had great participation with our Red Ribbon Week – “Say No to Drugs” spirit days. Our week ended with our Kids Heart Challenge Jump Rope for Heart event.  Thank you to everyone that donated to help this worthwhile cause.

ATTENTION PARENTS!
Your child can come to school IN their costume or bring it to change into by themselves.
A few reminders…

  • No costumes depicting violence
  • No props that resemble or could act as weapons
  • No bare midriffs
  • Facepaint is allowed.  However, facepaint that depicts violence or blood is NOT allowed.
  • Masks are permitted for the character parade walk only. However, masks that depict violence or blood are NOT allowed.
  • Parents you are welcome to come to the parade and watch, please sign into the office first and get a VISITORS PASS (ID required).

Our Loma Verde Fall Festival is on Friday, November 2nd from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  We have exciting new games, music, inflatables, a petting zoo, and good food!  We are still looking for volunteers to help out.  If you are able to give some of your time, please contact the school office.

  • Food tickets are $1 each
  • Game tickets are $0.50 each
  • Play wristbands are $10.00 each
  • Food and game packages will be available.
