The Wildcat Way Dec. 1-5, 2025 (Week #17)

Hello Loma Verde Families,

We hope you enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break filled with love, laughter, and great memories! We’re so thankful for our amazing Loma Verde Wildcats and the joy of helping them learn and grow.

Every Minute Counts!

Did you know that being just 5 minutes late each day can add up to a significant loss of learning time over the course of the school year? Every minute matters—especially in the morning when routines are set and learning begins.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of arriving at school on time every day. Building strong habits now sets the tone for a successful day and a successful year!

After 8:00 AM, students must enter through the office and will be marked tardy.

Let’s work together to help every student make the most of their learning time. Thank you for your continued support!

APEX – SCHOOL FUNDRAISER CONTINUES THIS WEEK!

We’ve wrapped up the first week of our Apex fundraiser, and it’s been incredible! The Level Up Leadership Habits are making a real impact, and our students are fully engaged in the journey.

So far, they’ve learned that LEADERS…

  • LEVEL UP – Growth comes through effort and practice. Leadership starts when we challenge ourselves to improve every day.
  • STARTS WITH ME – We take responsibility for our actions and lead by example. Great leaders are coachable, reliable, and open to learning.
  • UNDERSTANDING OTHERS – We listen, show empathy, and create positive environments by asking, “How can I help?” and choosing kindness.

Important:

  • Pledges must be entered online at http://www.myapexevent.com to count toward your class total.
  • The easiest way to get pledges is to click “SHARE” after logging in and send as many shares as possible via text, email, or social media.
  • Students aim for 10 sponsors and earn thank-you gifts for pledges. On average, students complete 32–42 laps (42 max). For example, a $1 per lap pledge equals about $36.
  • Don’t see your class? There’s still time to LOG IN, SHARE & PLEDGE!
  • Every student gets a free event-day shirt, so please select your child’s shirt size online.

Need your child’s access code? Check their VIP Badge, use a sibling’s code, or contact your child’s teacher.

Thank you for supporting our school and helping make this event a success!

The Wildcat Way Nov. 10-14, 2025 (Week #15)

Dear Loma Verde Families,

As Veterans Day approaches, we pause to honor and express our heartfelt gratitude to all veterans within our school community. Your service, dedication, and sacrifice have helped protect the freedoms we enjoy and have shaped a safer future for generations to come.

This day offers a meaningful opportunity to talk with children about the values of service, gratitude, and respect. We encourage families to reflect together on the courage and commitment of those who have served in the armed forces.

To all veterans and active-duty service members in our community—thank you. We deeply appreciate your contributions and the example you set for us all.

Warm regards,

CVESD Board Approves Phone-Free School Day Policy

On October 15, 2025, the Chula Vista Elementary School District Board of Education approved Policy 5131.8, supporting phone-free school days. This aligns with California’s Phone-Free School Act (AB 3216), which mandates limiting student phone use during school hours by July 1, 2026.

The policy aims to reduce distractions, improve academic performance, and support student mental health. Student phone use is prohibited during school hours, with exceptions for emergencies, health needs, or educator-approved instructional use. By implementing this policy, CVESD reaffirms its commitment to creating focused, engaging, and supportive classrooms for all students. To view the full Board Policy, click here.

Birthday Celebrations & CVESD Wellness Policy

CVESD has a Wellness Policy: Birthday Celebrations- No celebratory food items will be allowed on school sites during the school day in celebration of a student’s birthday. Please do not make arrangements to give students food items before or after school on the property. Some students have allergies. All it takes is for a student to eat an item with peanuts and they can become very ill in a matter of seconds. Help us keep all Wildcats safe by following the CVESD Wellness Policy.

Please Monitor What Your Child Watches on TV, Videos, and Games

Parents and guardians, you can help build a peaceful school community. Please monitor the videos, shows, and games your child is viewing and playing. Common Sense Media is a great resource for parents to learn parenting tips for the digital age. Acting out or discussing inappropriate content is not permitted at school. Play fighting or simulating a weapon is not allowed at school.

If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office.
