ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
LET’S IMPROVE OUR ATTENDANCE AT LOMA VERDE THIS YEAR!
Attendance is crucial for your child’s success. Students should only miss school if they are sick. If your child has symptoms, they can return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and their symptoms are improving. Students do not need to be completely symptom-free to return. If you need independent study for a special circumstance, please contact us.
Arriving on Time Please ensure your child arrives by 7:55 a.m. and is lined up on the blacktop (for 1st–6th grade) or by the classroom (for TK–Kindergarten). If they arrive after 8:00 a.m., they will be marked tardy.
Secure Campus Reminder At 8:00 a.m., we begin a secure campus. Parents and guardians must exit promptly at this time. We appreciate your cooperation!
School Arrival Times Students can arrive as early as 7:15 a.m. FREE breakfast is available from 7:15 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. If students miss breakfast, Second Chance Breakfast is available during the first recess.
Reporting Absences If your child is absent, it is important to call the office to report the reason for the absence at 619-420-3940. You can leave a voicemail or email us at lomaverdeschool@cvesd.org.
Absences that are not reported will be considered unexcused. After 3 unexcused absences or tardies, you will receive a truancy letter.
Early Pick-Up and Tardiness If you pick up your child early or if they are tardy for personal reasons, this will be considered unexcused unless a valid reason (like a doctor’s note) is provided. We encourage you to schedule appointments during school breaks when possible.
Missing School Means Missing Learning! Our school staff will be monitoring attendance closely. For students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school or having excessive tardies), we will schedule SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings, make phone calls, and conduct home visits to support improved attendance.
We truly appreciate your efforts in getting your child to school every day and on time!

All mass communications is now sent through Finalsite’s Messages XRE. This system is used for standard and emergency communications with all automatically translated into each family’s preferred language. Here are a few tips to ensure you receive the most benefit from the system:
Parent and guardian contact information is updated from our student information system, and staff information is updated through our staff information system each night. If your information is outdated in our informational systems, it will be outdated in the mass notification system.
If you’re a parent/guardian who needs to update your contact information, please contact your student’s school for the change. If you’re a staff member who needs to update your contact information, please contact Human Resources for the change.
Our system allows us to send messages as phone calls, emails, and text messages. General outreach messages are usually sent as phone calls and emails. Emergency messages will be sent out using all methods.
While we DO NOT recommend it, you do have the ability to opt out of non-emergency phone messages, all text messages, and all emails. Non-emergency phone messages are categorized as messages not related to student safety.
You MAY NOT opt out of emergency phone messages. This is for the benefit of your student. Emergency message examples are: school closures, early releases, evacuations, etc. (Note: Automated attendance calls are considered emergency messages as they pertain to student safety and therefore, cannot be opted out of).
CVESD’s free LEAD Academy Program will take place Monday, September 22, through Friday, October 3, offering full days of hands-on learning and enrichment activities for students in transitional kindergarten through sixth grade. Register Here
Home Access Center/CAASPP Scores
Accessing Student Score Reports via Home Access Center (HAC)
The Chula Vista Elementary School District uses the Home Access Center (HAC) to share Student Score Reports for both the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) and the English Learner Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC). These assessments, when combined with report card grades, classroom work, and teacher observations, provide families and educators with a more comprehensive understanding of each student’s learning progress.
Through HAC, parents and guardians can securely view, download, and save student results quickly and conveniently. [Click here for instructions on how to log in to the Home Access Center.]
If you experience any issues logging in, please contact our front office for assistance. Please note that hard copies of score reports are not provided by the school—all results are available exclusively through the HAC system.
Multilingual English Learner Services
Loma Verde Elementary and the Chula Vista Elementary School District support Multilingual English Learners (formerly known as English Language Learners). All students classified by the state of California as MEL status participate in daily designated and integrated ELD, or English Language Development. This often looks like extra small group or one-on-one support. Please see the information below and contact your child’s teacher with any questions.
LOMA VERDE SPIRIT GEAR IS FOR SALE!
We are selling Loma Verde spirit shirts and hoodies at school. The T-shirts are $13 and the sweatshirts cost $33. (Cash only at this time.) Students can wear the spirit t-shirts and sweatshirts any day of the week OR the uniform shirt. Order forms can be picked up in the office or click here. Let’s show our school spirit, Wildcats! Please make sure to write your child’s first and last name inside their hoodie.
Gently Used Uniforms Needed

If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office.
