Hello Loma Verde Families,
As we begin our third week of school, we are proud of the hard work and learning happening across campus! During these first few weeks, students have been focusing on what it means to be a Loma Verde Wildcat by demonstrating our three personal standards:
- Show Respect
- Make Good Decisions
- Solve Problems
We look forward to recognizing our Wildcats of the Week at Monday’s Blacktop Character Assembly.

PARENT LEADERS NEEDED
Are you interested in getting more involved at Loma Verde? We need parents to serve on our School Site Council and English Learner Advisory Committee. If you are interested in making decisions about our school budget and School Plan for Student Achievement, please consider getting involved. Please let Principal Bree Watson (bree.watson@cvesd.org) know if you would like to join the committees. Our PTO is also looking for parent leaders; let us know if you want to join!

Join Our PTO and Make a Difference!
Join the Loma Verde PTO and Help Make This Year Amazing!
We need your support to make this school year truly special for our Loma Verde students! By joining the PTO, you’ll help support school events, family activities, fundraisers, and programs that enrich our students’ educational experience.
PTO membership dues directly fund important opportunities such as field trips, classroom supplies, assemblies, guest speakers, and other student-centered programs. Every dollar stays at Loma Verde and directly benefits our students.
Membership is just $25 per family and includes a free Loma Verde t-shirt!
The membership drive begins this week, and registration information can be found in your Back-to-School Packet.
Our goal is 100% participation from both staff and families. Together, we can make this an unforgettable year for our students. Thank you for your support and partnership!

We Need You! 2026-2027 School Site Council Parent & Community Member Elections
Are you looking for a meaningful way to make a difference at Loma Verde? We invite parents and community members to consider serving on our School Site Council (SSC) for the 2026–2027 school year
The SSC is an important leadership team that helps guide decisions related to school safety, student achievement, and the use of LCAP and Title I funds. Yourvoice, ideas, and perspective can help shape the future of our school.
We are seeking two parent/community representatives to serve a two-year term. Meetings are held once a month on a Tuesday or Wednesday from 3:00–4:00 PM.
If you are interested in running for a seat on the School Site Council, please add your name to the ballot by completing this form:
https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/VkkaNFtAZn
SSC elections will take place during the week of August 3, 2026.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our students, staff, and school community. If you have questions, please contact bree.watson@cvesd.org.
Your voice matters—we hope you’ll join us!

Year 3 of our LCAP focuses on students’ experiences and ensuring their voices help shape CVESD’s work toward Rigorous Learning for All. By intentionally listening to students and learning from their perspectives, we will gain a deeper understanding of their experiences across our schools, classrooms, and learning environments. Important School Policies and Reminders
- Uniform Policy: Students must wear their school uniform daily unless a Uniform Waiver has been submitted to the office.
- Toys and Electronics: Students should not bring toys, cards, or unnecessary gadgets unless they have been approved by the classroom teacher.
- Water Bottles: Please only send plain water in student water bottles. No Gatorade, Prime, juice, etc., as these beverages stain carpets and attract pests. We have a bottle filler next to room 406 to fill up water bottles.
- Food Sharing: No sharing of food is allowed.
- No Gum or Candy: Please ensure that students do not bring gum or candy to school.
- Label Personal Items: Be sure to label lunch boxes, water bottles, and sweaters with your child’s name to help ensure they are returned if misplaced.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a smooth and productive school day for all!

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
LET’S IMPROVE OUR ATTENDANCE AT LOMA VERDE THIS YEAR!
Attendance is crucial for your child’s success. Students should only miss school if they are sick. If your child has symptoms, they can return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and their symptoms are improving. Students do not need to be completely symptom-free to return. If you need independent study for a special circumstance, please contact us.

Arriving on Time
Please ensure your child arrives by 7:55 a.m. and is lined up on the blacktop (for 2nd–6th grade) or in the auditorium (for Kindergarten-1st grade). If they arrive after 8:00 a.m., students will be marked tardy.
Secure Campus Reminder
At 8:00 a.m., we begin a secure campus. Parents and guardians must exit promptly at the 7:55 AM bell. We appreciate your cooperation!
School Arrival Times
Students can arrive as early as 7:15 a.m.
FREE breakfast is available from 7:15 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. If students miss breakfast, Second Chance Breakfast is available during the first recess.
Reporting Absences
If your child is absent, it is important to call the office to report the reason for the absence at 619-420-3940. You can leave a voicemail or email us at lomaverdeschool@cvesd.org.
Absences that are not reported will be considered unexcused. After 3 unexcused absences or tardies, you will receive a truancy letter.
Early Pick-Up and Tardiness
If you pick up your child early or if they are tardy for personal reasons, this will be considered unexcused unless a valid reason (ex. doctor’s note) is provided. We encourage you to schedule appointments during school breaks when possible.
Missing School Means Missing Learning!
Our school staff will be monitoring attendance closely. For students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school or having excessive tardies), we will schedule SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings, make phone calls, and conduct home visits to support improved attendance.
We truly appreciate your efforts in getting your child to school every day and on time!
Week #2 TK-6th grade attendance average: 97.5% (Goal is 97% or higher) WAY TO! WE EXCEEDED OUR ATTENDANCE GOAL FOR THE 1ST TWO WEEKS!
