Wow—can you believe we’re already in Week 33? Time really is flying by!

A special shoutout to everyone who joined us for our Zootopia 2 Family Movie Night. It was such a joy to come together as a community. We are especially grateful to our amazing volunteers—we truly couldn’t do it without you!

This Wednesday, 4/30, we will celebrate the Day of the Child. The PTO has planned special activities and treats during lunchtime. It is also a Sports-Themed Spirit Day, so students are encouraged to wear their favorite sports gear!

CVESD End-of-Year Survey Now Live!

As part of the Chula Vista Elementary School District’s (CVESD) ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, CVESD invites the community to participate in our confidential End-of-Year Hanover Survey. 

The Hanover Survey provides valuable feedback that helps us better understand the needs, experiences, and priorities for CVESD. Your input directly informs district decision-making and helps guide planning for the upcoming school year, ensuring we continue to provide high-quality learning experiences for every student. 

Students in grades 4–6 may participate with parent/guardian consent. Opt-in information was shared with families the week of April 6. If you would like your child to participate, please return the completed opt-in form to your child’s teacher.

State & Local Testing Begins Soon!

The final quarter of the school year will be a busy and exciting time filled with continued learning, fun school activities, and important end-of-year assessments. Please review the important testing information below and mark your calendars with the upcoming assessment dates.

We encourage you to support your child by:

  • Ensuring they get a good night’s sleep
  • Providing a healthy breakfast each morning
  • Reminding them to do their best and letting them know how proud you are
  • Making sure all cell phones are put away during testing to avoid any test irregularities
  • If possible, leave iWatches and other smart devices at home

The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) helps provide valuable information to teachers, students, and families about student learning and achievement.

Loma Verde Variety Show!

The Loam Verde Variety Show will take place at the end of the quarter. DO YOU NEED BEFORE-SCHOOL CHILD CARE?

We have open spots available this Spring for our before-school program, Lead Hub! Drop-off is from 6:30–7:15 AM, and students participate in engaging activities until 7:45 AM. Open Enrollment for New Students 2026-2027 School Year

The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) has open enrollment for new Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students for the 2026–27 school year. Eligibility for the next school year includes:

  • TK: Children who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2026
  • Kindergarten: Children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026

Every Minute Counts!

Did you know that being just 5 minutes late each day can add up to a significant loss of learning time over the course of the school year? Every minute matters—especially in the morning when routines are set and learning begins.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of arriving at school on time every day. Building strong habits now sets the tone for a successful day and a successful year!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Line-Up Time: 2nd-6th grade students should be lined up on the blacktop by 7:55 AM. TK-1st grade students should be in the auditorium by 7:55 AM.
  • Start Time: Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
  • Gate Closure: For the safety and security of our campus, all gates will close at 8:00 AM.

After 8:00 AM, students must enter through the office and will be marked tardy.

Please be sure to plan family events around our scheduled school breaks so that students can attend school every day. LOMA VERDE SPIRIT GEAR IS FOR SALE

We are selling Loma Verde spirit shirts and hoodies at school. The T-shirts are $15 and the sweatshirts cost $33. (Cash only at this time.) Students can wear the spirit t-shirts and sweatshirt any day of the week OR the uniform shirt. Order forms can be picked up in the office or click here. Let’s show our school spirit, Wildcats! Please make sure to write your child’s first and last name inside their hoodie.

PARKING, DROP-OFF, AND PICK-UP

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during drop-off and pick-up. To keep everyone safe and things running smoothly:

  • Use only the designated drop-off/pick-up zones.
  • If you need to leave your car, park in the lot—not the bus loop.
  • No dogs on campus during arrival or dismissal.
  • Do not park in RESERVED or staff spaces.
  • Students must walk bikes on sidewalks.

Morning Drop-Off Times:

  • 7:15–7:55 AM for students eating breakfast
  • 7:30–8:00 AM for all others
    2nd-6th grader students line up on the blacktop and are picked up by teachers at 8:00 AM. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00—students arriving after this time are marked tardy. TK-1st grade students sit in the auditorium at their assigned table. The teacher will pick up the students at 8:00 a.m.

SDC Preschool & Preschool: Follow your teacher’s specific drop-off and pick-up instructions.

Afternoon Pick-Up:

  • Students not picked up by 2:45 PM (or 1:15 PM on minimum days) will be taken to the office and must be signed out.
  • Parents must sign into the Raptor System to enter the campus to drop off their student beginning 1/2026. Parents must exit by the first bell at 7:55 am.

Let’s all remember to be patient, kind, and considerate—thank you for helping us keep Loma Verde safe and welcoming for everyone!

Gently Used Uniforms Needed

Has your child outgrown their school uniform? The Loma Verde Health Office needs donations of clean uniform clothes to have on hand for children who need to change clothes. If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office. We are also accepting donations of new, packaged underwear for this purpose.

BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:55. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. LOST AND FOUND

Please note that the lost and found rack will be at the front of the school by the office.   Remember to use a permanent marker to put your child’s name on jackets, sweaters, lunch bags, and water bottles.
