CVESD Reopening Playbook for Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians:
We are pleased to announce the release of the Reopening Playbook for Parents. This document outlines our safe return to in-person instruction. Please review this “Parent Playbook” thoroughly by clicking here or copying and pasting this link into your web browser: https://indd.adobe.com/view/0476af62-e46a-44d1-9348-5fc8660c582b
As part of our agreement with Chula Vista Educators, which is the bargaining group that represents teachers, our District will reopen to in-person instruction starting with a “hybrid” instructional format—provided that all health and safety conditions are met. A key condition is that San Diego County return to the “red” tier as defined in the state’s tiered-level system. Our County is currently in the most restrictive “purple” tier. Our County will need to drop to an adjusted case rate of 7 or fewer new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people—for two consecutive weeks—before we can start in-person instruction. There is reason for optimism that a move to the red tier is on the horizon, based upon the downward trend in adjusted case rates. Once that occurs, parents and school staff will be provided two-weeks’ notice before the start of the first day of in-person school to ensure adequate preparation. Click here to see the San Diego County COVID-19 Case Dashboard.
Please note that the Governor’s updated guidance came out recently—months after we reached agreement with our teachers about a safe return to in-person instruction. Be reassured that our District is prepared for in-person instruction in a “hybrid” model with students attending either morning or afternoon sessions in order to minimize the number of individuals on campus at any one time. Parents also will have the option to keep their child(ren) in distance learning for the remainder of 2020-21 school year.
Meet Our New School Psychologist!

Hello Everyone!
My name is Angela Cerda, and I am the new school psychologist here at Loma Verde Elementary! I wanted to take the time to introduce myself 🙂.
I grew up in Temecula, attended UCI for undergrad and SDSU for graduate school. I have lived in San Diego for 3 years and love it! I am bilingual in Spanish and can get by in German. I love drinking coffee and tea ☕! I also enjoy reading, knitting and gardening. I love to travel and look forward to the day that we are able to do so again! I am attaching my picture so if you see me on campus or in a meeting please say hello! Looking forward to getting to know everyone here at Loma Verde!
Please Donate to Support the SouthBay YMCA Program

Can you help? The YMCA annual campaign has started! Help Loma Verde Elementary reach its goal of $250. This helps support YMCA programs and scholarships for our students. Donate here: https://www.classy.org/fundraiser/3124701 Thank you!

Great news! Our school has signed up to use Inner Explorer, giving all of us the opportunity to start practicing mindfulness with our students. The simple “just press play” program fosters life skills such as improved focus, compassion, gratitude, and self-regulation as key elements in a student’s continuous improvement. For more information, please watch the Introduction to Inner Explorer video. Additional resources can be found on the Inner Explorer website at www.InnerExplorer.org.
Inner Explorer has advantages for families, too. The secular program is designed to be easy, requires no previous experience, and can be incorporated into any part of your day. Proven outcomes of daily practice include, but are not limited to:
- Stress reduction
- Better overall mental health and well-being
- Improved awareness
- Enhanced emotional regulation
- Better academic and professional performance

The CVESD Caring Crew and YOU!

We would like to remind our entire community that following the four pillars of health can prevent the spread of COVID-19. As we prepare for the eventual return of some students to campus in phases, our District and school will be enforcing the four core principles (also known as four pillars) for the prevention of COVID-19. These include: 1) Daily Health Screenings, 2) Mask Wearing, 3) Physical Distancing, and 4) Frequent Hand Washing.

Computer Devices & WIFI to Loan Families

We recommend each student have their own laptop with a camera and microphone for Distance Learning. Some tablets have compatibility issues with the Microsoft Teams platform and online learning programs.
If your child needs a device or wifi hotspot, please complete and submit this form below, so we can plan and prepare the devices for distribution. If you do not need a device or hotspot, please do not fill out this form. Please fill out a form for each child who needs a device. Do not fill out for a child who previously received a device. We will notify you when you device and/or WIFI hotspot are ready.
