We hope you all had a safe and happy winter break!

Hello Loma Verde Wildcats! This is the 16th week of school.  Attendance is an important part of Distance Learning. Please make sure your child logs on to class on time for the entire class period and completes all assignments.

Families still have one more day to enjoy the Winter Break as there is NO SCHOOL tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 4, 2021.

Please note that all students resume online learning on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 and that there will be no DLSP on campus the week back from Winter Break. The Distance Learning Support Program on campus will resume on Monday, January 11, 2021.

Parents, we know this school year is challenging on everyone, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation more than you can imagine. Please note that students in grades K-6 will take mid-year district assessments this month. The purpose of assessments is to give teachers needed information about how to better support your child. Please help your child’s learning by NOT giving hints or answers when they are taking a test. Thank you for all your support!

IMPORTANT Dates to Remember:

Monday, Jan. 4 – NO SCHOOL Teacher prep day

Tuesday, Jan. 5 – Beginning of 3rd Quarter

Monday, Jan. 11 – YMCA students return to campus

Monday, Jan. 18 – No School in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

80 Loma Verde Students Received New Desks & Toys!

How to Tap the Power of 'Thank You'

Thank you to Martin Furniture for donating 80 new desks for students to have at home! We randomly selected 80 student names from 291 names submitted. Families picked up the desks and a toy donated from The Rock Church on Friday, December 18, 2020. If you were one of the lucky families to get a desk, please send us a picture with a thank you note or sign showing your child at their new desk to bree.watson@cvesd.org. We will share them with the Martin Furniture Company that made desks just for Loma Verde students.

Messages From the Superintendent

If you missed the Superintendent’s most recent Town Hall Meeting on December 17, 2020 you can view the recording here. Here is the Spanish version.

The Chula Vista Elementary School District’s staff—from principals to classroom teachers to facilities, gardeners, transportation and front office support—all are working together to ensure that teaching and learning can resume safely in person once COVID-19 rates improve. Our District has been busily preparing for in-person instruction in a “hybrid” instructional format—meaning a limited number of students return to school in cohorts that alternate with other student cohorts. We are “Ready for Students’ Return.” Click on the video link to hear about how we are preparing for students to return to campus learning: https://youtu.be/FTySt8UZipQ.

The CVESD Caring Crew and YOU!

We would like to remind our entire community that following the four pillars of health can prevent the spread of COVID-19. As we prepare for the eventual return of some students to campus in phases, our District and school will be enforcing the four core principles (also known as four pillars) for the prevention of COVID-19. These include: 1) Daily Health Screenings, 2) Mask Wearing, 3) Physical Distancing, and 4) Frequent Hand Washing.

Computer Devices & WIFI to Loan Families

We recommend each student have their own laptop with a camera and microphone for Distance Learning.  Some tablets have compatibility issues with the Microsoft Teams platform and online learning programs.

If your child needs a device or wifi hotspot, please complete and submit this form below, so we can plan and prepare the devices for distribution.  If you do not need a device or hotspot, please do not fill out this form. Please fill out a form for each child who needs a device.  Do not fill out for a child who previously received a device.  We will notify you when you device and/or WIFI hotspot are ready.
