What a wonderful day we had celebrating reading on Friday at Read Across Loma Verde! Thank you to all our parents and community members for joining us! We also appreciate all the staff, student leaders, and volunteers that made sure the event was enjoyable for all! Special thanks to Mrs. Mickelsen and the dedicated PTO committee for their planning and organization of the event. We all had a great time!

Loma Verde A to Z Salad Bar Lunch for Students & Parents
Parents and guardians are welcome to join us on April 12th during your child’s lunch for the “Apples to Zucchini Salad Bar” lunch. Parents must sign into the office and obtain a visitor pass prior to eating with their child. We will have picnic tables on the lawn near the auditorium. Parents can also bring blankets. There will be various community resources for families also here on campus. Students will eat for free. The adult lunch cost is $4.00, non-student children ages 1-12 are $2.50. (Cash only). No outside food will be allowed for this event. Please join us! Reminder: students are dismissed at 1:00 on 3/12 for parent/teacher conferences.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES
Our parent-teacher conferences begin Thursday, March 12 and end Friday, March 20. Please make every effort to attend the scheduled conference to discuss your child’s progress. Our teachers and students will share very important information and you will have an opportunity to ask questions about your child’s progress this school year.
Please remember that all Kinder-6th grade students are dismissed at 1:00 p.m. throughout the conference schedule. Please make appropriate transportation arrangements during our modified schedule.
LCAP ThoughtExchange 2020
ThoughtExchange started on February 18. Loma Verde Elementary and CVESD are seeking your input regarding our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals. We will be using the online tool Thoughtexchange to gather your input, February 18-March 20. You can read about the current LCAP here. When you complete Thoughtexchange, email bree.watson@cvesd.org a screenshot of the completion screen, with your children’s names, and each of your students will receive a special prize! Please put Thoughtexchange in the subject line. You can also show your picture to our secretary in the office to get your prize.

LCAP Town Hall Meeting: Please Join Us! 
When: Wednesday, March 11 at Hedenkamp Elementary! Two Sessions: 4-5:30 or 6-7:30 pm. Please choose one session to attend! Share your thoughts on what you love or want to see improved for the students in CVESD. Your input DOES matter!
Health Reminders
As we continue to monitor and provide district-wide updates on the COVID-19 disease, remind your child to wash their hands when using the bathroom and before eating a snack and/or lunch. Students should NOT SHARE food. If your child is sick, keep him/her home. Please note that our school is taking extra precautions in keeping the campus clean.
SATURDAY SCHOLARS RETURNS!
Does your 4th, 5th or 6th-grade child have any interest in science and the medical field? If so, then the Saturday Scholars Program is just the program for your curious student! It is held every Saturday for five weeks (April 11, 18, 25, May 2, and 9). Your child has the opportunity to learn about the science of medicine and details about possible medical careers. Enrollment is limited to 30 students and all accepted applicants MUST attend all 5 sessions. Be on the lookout for applications during the week of March 9-13. For any questions, please see Mrs. Romero in room 602.

TK & Kindergarten Registration packets are being accepted now. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding registration for the 2020 -2021 school year.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the 150 community members and The Rock Church for your time, talent, and dedication to improving our campus on Saturday, March 7! The group painted 11 lunch tables, stained 15 backpack racks, repainted part of the play structure, repainted the US map on the blacktop, power washed sidewalks, cleaned up our garden, painted the TK shed and cleaned the kinder playground area, spread mulch around campus, removed a worn-down shed, painted 2 giant murals, picked up trash, and much more! We are so fortunate and grateful for your help and support to make this school shine a little brighter!
