LET’S IMPROVE OUR ATTENDANCE AT LOMA VERDE THIS YEAR!
Attendance is crucial for your child’s success. Students should only miss school if they are sick. If your child has symptoms, they can return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and their symptoms are improving. Students do not need to be completely symptom-free to return. If you need independent study for a special circumstance, please contact us.
Arriving on Time Please ensure your child arrives by 7:55 a.m. and is lined up on the blacktop (for 2nd–6th grade) or in the auditorium (for Kindergarten-1st grade). If they arrive after 8:00 a.m., students will be marked tardy.
Secure Campus Reminder At 8:00 a.m., we begin a secure campus. Parents and guardians must exit promptly at the 7:55 AM bell. We appreciate your cooperation!
School Arrival Times Students can arrive as early as 7:15 a.m. FREE breakfast is available from 7:15 a.m. to 7:50 a.m. If students miss breakfast, Second Chance Breakfast is available during the first recess.
Reporting Absences If your child is absent, it is important to call the office to report the reason for the absence at 619-420-3940. You can leave a voicemail or email us at lomaverdeschool@cvesd.org.
Absences that are not reported will be considered unexcused. After 3 unexcused absences or tardies, you will receive a truancy letter.
Early Pick-Up and Tardiness If you pick up your child early or if they are tardy for personal reasons, this will be considered unexcused unless a valid reason (ex. doctor’s note) is provided. We encourage you to schedule appointments during school breaks when possible.
Missing School Means Missing Learning! Our school staff will be monitoring attendance closely. For students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school or having excessive tardies), we will schedule SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings, make phone calls, and conduct home visits to support improved attendance.

Gently Used Uniforms Needed
Has your child outgrown their school uniform from last year? The Loma Verde Health Office needs donations of clean uniform clothes to have on hand for children who need to change clothes. If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office.
BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:55. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. Food Sharing: No sharing of food is allowed.

Label Personal Items: Be sure to label lunch boxes, water bottles, and sweaters with your child’s name to help ensure they are returned if misplaced.

To help keep our campus safe, Board Policy 3515.1 requires all parents and visitors who wish to come onto campus during the school day or accompany their child in the morning to check in through theRaptor Visitor Management System.
Parents may accompany their child to the designated morning drop-off area or classroom, then must exit campus by the first bell at 7:55 AM. All visitors are expected to follow school safety procedures and staff directions while on campus.

Loma Verde Dress Code:School Uniforms
Loma Verde students will be required to wear school uniforms. Shirts are blue, white or grey and pants/shorts/skirts are navy or black. Spirit t-shirts can be worn any day. Please wear closed-toe shoes daily. If you need help acquiring the uniforms, please contact the office. Information is confidential.
DRESS CODE:
Students are expected to come to school appropriately dressed. Students failing to dress appropriately will be asked to change. If students are unable to change, parents/guardians will be contacted to bring clothing for their child to school. Parents/guardians are encouraged to have all student clothing free of any writing, pictures, or insignias. Students are not allowed to display by wearing or placement of apparel that would signify the affiliation or intent of affiliation in a student group advocating or participating in disruptive behavior. Cell Phone & Smart Watch Policy
A student may bring a cell phone or smartwatch to campus only if a parent/guardian has completed and submitted the 26-27 Loma Verde Cell Phone Waiver to the school office. The student may bring the device only after the parent has received a signed permission form from a school administrator.
Upon arrival at school, all cell phones and smartwatches must be turned in to the classroom teacher and will be returned at the end of the school day. Students are NOT permitted to keep cell phones on their person, in their desks, or in their backpacks during school hours.
Cell phone permissions are valid for one school year only and must be renewed annually. Any violation of the terms will result in the confiscation of the device and revocation of cell phone privileges. In such cases, the parent or guardian will need to come to the school office to pick up the device from an administrator.

All of us at Loma Verde thank our families and community members for their patience, cooperation, and support during arrival and dismissal times. Working together helps us keep all students safe and ensures a smooth traffic flow for everyone.
Drop-Off and Parking
Please use the designated student drop-off and pick-up areas whenever possible.
Students may only be dropped off in the designated drop-off zone.
If you need to leave your vehicle, please park in the Loma Verde Recreation Center parking lot, not in the bus loop.
Please do not park in reserved spaces or in the staff parking lot.

Attendance is crucial for your child’s success. Students should only miss school if they are sick. Early Pick-Up and Tardiness If you pick up your child early or if they are tardy for personal reasons, this will be considered unexcused unless a valid reason (ex. doctor’s note) is provided. We encourage you to schedule appointments during school breaks when possible.
Missing School Means Missing Learning! Our school staff will be monitoring attendance closely. For students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school or having excessive tardies), we will schedule SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings, make phone calls, and conduct home visits to support improved attendance.

This year, we are especially excited to welcome eight classes from Valle Lindo Elementary School to the Loma Verde campus while their school undergoes a major renovation project. We are honored to host our Valle Lindo students and staff and look forward to welcoming them into our amazing school community. Loma Verde Dress Code:School Uniforms
Loma Verde students will be required to wear school uniforms. Shirts are blue, white or grey and pants/shorts/skirts are navy or black. Spirit t-shirts can be worn any day. Please wear closed-toe shoes daily. If you need help acquiring the uniforms, please contact the office. Information is confidential.
DRESS CODE:
Students are expected to come to school appropriately dressed. Students failing to dress appropriately will be asked to change. If students are unable to change, parents/guardians will be contacted to bring clothing for their child to school. Parents/guardians are encouraged to have all student clothing free of any writing, pictures, or insignias. Students are not allowed to display by wearing or placement of apparel that would signify the affiliation or intent of affiliation in a student group advocating or participating in disruptive behavior. Gently Used Uniforms Needed
Has your child outgrown their school uniform from last year? The Loma Verde Health Office needs donations of clean uniform clothes to have on hand for children who need to change clothes. If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office.

We are looking for parents and community members who are interested in being part of our Loma Verde School Site Council. There are 5 parents/community members on this committee that serve a 2-year term. The meetings are once a month, on a Tuesday or Wednesday, from 3-4:00 pm. SSC helps make decisions on school safety and how to spend our LCAP and Title 1 funds. Cell Phone & Smart Watch Policy
A student may bring a cell phone or smartwatch to campus only if a parent/guardian has completed and submitted the 26-27 Loma Verde Cell Phone Waiver to the school office. The student may bring the device only after the parent has received a signed permission form from a school administrator.
Upon arrival at school, all cell phones and smartwatches must be turned in to the classroom teacher and will be returned at the end of the school day. Students are NOT permitted to keep cell phones on their person, in their desks, or in their backpacks during school hours.
Cell phone permissions are valid for one school year only and must be renewed annually. Any violation of the terms will result in the confiscation of the device and revocation of cell phone privileges. In such cases, the parent or guardian will need to come to the school office to pick up the device from an administrator.
Uniform Policy: Students must wear their school uniform daily unless a Uniform Waiver has been submitted to the office.
Toys and Electronics: Students should not bring toys, cards, or unnecessary gadgets unless they have been approved by the classroom teacher.
Water Bottles: Please only send plain water in student water bottles. No Gatorade, Prime, juice, etc., as these beverages stain carpets and attract pests. We have a bottle filler next to room 406 to fill up water bottles.
Food Sharing: No sharing of food is allowed.
No Gum or Candy: Please ensure that students do not bring gum or candy to school.
Label Personal Items: Be sure to label lunch boxes, water bottles, and sweaters with your child’s name to help ensure they are returned if misplaced.

5/26 – 6/16 Continuing Student Enrollment (Families must re-enroll for the 2026-27 school year by June 16, 2026, to be included in the class roster)
Many parents have been inquiring about residency verification for the upcoming 2026-27 school year, the time has finally arrived. Last week, starting on Tuesday, May 26, enrollment for continuing students launched. You should have received an email from DoNotReply@cvesd.org for each student on Tuesday, May 26. Check your inbox, spam, and junk email folders for the email. Each email will have your child’s unique snap code. If you didn’t receive an email, please call the school 619-420-3940 or email lomaverdeschool@cvesd.org.
For families with multiple children enrolled in our district, expect to receive an email for each child. Please complete the form by June 16th, 2026, to secure your child’s spot for the next academic year. If your child won’t attend a school within the Chula Vista Elementary School District next year, please inform our front office.
Medication Pick Up
Please pick up your child’s medication in the Health Office by the close of the last day of school (June 5, 2026). Medications not picked up will be discarded as per the directive of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. A new medication form, completed by the physician and signed by the parent/guardian, is needed for the coming school year. Bring the completed form and the medication as packaged by the pharmacy to school at the beginning of the next school year. Return Loma Verde Library Books
Drop off library books at the front of the school as soon as possible. Many students still have books checked out from this school year. All books must be returned to the library by the end of the school year. Thank you!

We are looking for parents and community members who are interested in being part of our Loma Verde School Site Council. There are 5 parents/community members on this committee who serve a 2-year term. If you are interested in running for our Loma Verde School Site Council, please click here to put your name on the ballot. SSC elections will be held the week of 5/26/26. The meetings are once a month, on a Tuesday, from 3-4:00 pm. SSC helps make decisions on school safety and how to spend our LCAP and Title 1 funds. Open Enrollment for New Students 2026-2027 School Year
The Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) has open enrollment for new Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten students for the 2026–27 school year. Eligibility for the next school year includes:
TK: Children who turn 4 on or before September 1, 2026
Kindergarten: Children who turn 5 on or before September 1, 2026

Every Minute Counts!
Did you know that being just 5 minutes late each day can add up to a significant loss of learning time over the course of the school year? Every minute matters—especially in the morning when routines are set and learning begins.
Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of arriving at school on time every day. Building strong habits now sets the tone for a successful day and a successful year!
Here’s what you need to know:
Line-Up Time: 2nd-6th grade students should be lined up on the blacktop by 7:55 AM. TK-1st grade students should be in the auditorium by 7:55 AM.
Start Time: Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
Gate Closure: For the safety and security of our campus, all gates will close at 8:00 AM.
After 8:00 AM, students must enter through the office and will be marked tardy.

LOMA VERDE SPIRIT GEAR IS FOR SALE
We are selling Loma Verde spirit shirts and hoodies at school. The T-shirts are $15 and the sweatshirts cost $33. (Cash only at this time.) Students can wear the spirit t-shirts and sweatshirt any day of the week OR the uniform shirt. Order forms can be picked up in the office or click here. Let’s show our school spirit, Wildcats! Please make sure to write your child’s first and last name inside their hoodie.
PARKING, DROP-OFF, AND PICK-UP
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during drop-off and pick-up. To keep everyone safe and things running smoothly:
Use only the designated drop-off/pick-up zones.
If you need to leave your car, park in the lot—not the bus loop.
No dogs on campus during arrival or dismissal.
Do not park in RESERVED or staff spaces.
Students must walk bikes on sidewalks.
Morning Drop-Off Times:
7:15–7:55 AM for students eating breakfast
7:30–8:00 AM for all others 2nd-6th grader students line up on the blacktop and are picked up by teachers at 8:00 AM. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00—students arriving after this time are marked tardy. TK-1st grade students sit in the auditorium at their assigned table. The teacher will pick up the students at 8:00 a.m.
SDC Preschool & Preschool: Follow your teacher’s specific drop-off and pick-up instructions.
Afternoon Pick-Up:
Students not picked up by 2:45 PM (or 1:15 PM on minimum days) will be taken to the office and must be signed out.
Parents must sign into the Raptor System to enter the campus to drop off their student beginning 1/2026. Parents must exit by the first bell at 7:55 am.
Let’s all remember to be patient, kind, and considerate—thank you for helping us keep Loma Verde safe and welcoming for everyone!
Gently Used Uniforms Needed
Has your child outgrown their school uniform? The Loma Verde Health Office needs donations of clean uniform clothes to have on hand for children who need to change clothes. If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office. We are also accepting donations of new, packaged underwear for this purpose.
BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:55. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. Students may NOT share food at school. All students eat free lunch. Click here to see the breakfast and lunch menus and nutritional information.
LOST AND FOUND
Please note that the lost and found rack will be at the front of the school by the office. Remember to use a permanent marker to put your child’s name on jackets, sweaters, lunch bags, and water bottles.
