RESIDENCY VERIFICATION

Our annual proof of residency for returning students began on Wednesday, May 22.   All bills used to prove residency must have a date of May 22nd or later.  Our office will be open for extended hours to accept documents. A flyer was sent home last week with more information. Please call our office at 619-420-3940 if you have any questions.  You must prove residency before your child will be placed on a class list.

A letter yellow was sent home last week requesting volunteers to be on various school committees.  Please complete the form and return it to the office.  We appreciate your involvement in helping our school!

 

Attention Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Parents:

Remember that you need to submit your child’s physical and dental exams to our school nurse by the dates noted below.  If you are unable to obtain the exams please talk to Nurse Isla so that she can assist you.

Physical Exams or waivers are due before the end of the school year for all kindergarten students. This requirement does not apply to transitional kinder students.

Dental Exams or waivers are due no later than May 31st for all transitional and kindergarten students.

 

6th GRADE PROMOTION

Our Sixth Grade Promotion is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 at 8:30 a.m.  The promotion will be held outdoors near the 500 building next to the soccer field.

Loma Verde’s overall attendance was 95.75% last week. Our goal is 98%. Be sure to bring your child to school every day and on time. Every minute of every day counts!

The 19 Saturday Scholars students were honored at the Navy Surface Warfare Medical Institute in Balboa Park on Saturday, May 18 along with their Navy mentors for their science projects on various medical topics. It was a special ceremony for students and families.

 

Our Loma Verde Mini Mermaid Running Club participated in the Chula Vista Community Fun Run on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

We started our Morning Mileage Club five weeks ago.  We have had 337 K-6 students participate at least one day with a group total of 1,388 miles walked/run!

Here’s the breakdown by grade for the week of May 13-17: K-19 miles, 1st-56 miles, 2nd-26 miles, 3rd-30 miles, 4th-38 miles, 5th-39 miles, 6th-43 miles

TOP CLASSES for the week: Taylor-26 miles, Murdoch-24 miles, Johnson-22 miles, Polanco Campos-21 miles, Snell-19 miles.

Overall Top Classes since start date: Murdoch-117 miles, Johnson-113 miles, Polanco Campos-109 miles!

Top grade level: 1^st grade with 262 miles run in 5 weeks!

A TEDxChulaVista Day is coming! One of our Loma Verde 6th graders will be speaking.  We wish her well during this very special event on Saturday, May 25.

ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING

We will hold our next English Learner Advisory Committee Meeting on Monday,  May 13 at 8:15 am in the auditorium.  This is our last meeting for the year.  We will be talking about our social-emotional learning supports in place at our school.  Breakfast, childcare, and a raffle will be provided.   All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend!  Translation will be provided in Spanish.  Please join us!
