The Wildcat Way Jan. 19-23, 2026 (Week #21)

There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 19, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Dear Families,

We had a wonderful first week back from Winter Break! Thank you for your patience and support as we launched our new Safe Campus Board Policy last week.

If you have not yet downloaded the Raptor Safe App, we kindly ask that you do so. Having the app on your phone will make coming onto campus smoother—whether you’re walking your child to their line, heading to the MPR, or joining us for breakfast.

As a friendly reminder, there will be no school tomorrow, Monday, January 19, 2026, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

We encourage you to spend part of the holiday engaging in meaningful activities that honor Dr. King’s legacy. Families are invited to participate in an optional, off‑campus Day of Service. Across San Diego County, there are many opportunities, including beach cleanups, food bank volunteering, and neighborhood enhancement projects. For more information on local service events, please visit:

Kind regards, Mrs. Watson

Loma Verde Scholastic Book Fair 1/27-1/31

Dear Parents and Families,

Get ready! Our Scholastic Book Fair starts next week! Choosing their own books empowers students and inspires them to become bolder, prouder, and stronger readers. And—as always—every book they purchase earns rewards for our school.

The Book Fair will take place January 26–30 in the library from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.

This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—a secure, digital payment option that makes it easy for students to shop without carrying money. You can set up your child’s eWallet for worry‑free purchases.
E‑Wallet link: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/lomaverdeelementaryschool

If you’re unable to attend in person, you can still support our school by shopping the Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book‑only orders over $25. Online purchases also benefit our school.

We also need volunteers! A volunteer sign‑up sheet will be posted on Class Dojo later this week. Please consider signing up for 1–2 time slots so we can keep the Book Fair open for all students to enjoy. Thank you in advance for your help!

Thank you for supporting our students. Happy reading!

It’s that time again—Quarter 3 club registration! We’re excited to launch another great round of clubs, and we’d love for your student to join us.

Please be sure to complete your Quarter 3 club registration using the link below:

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. I’m happy to help!

Warmly,
Ms. Jackie

Family Bingo Night Coming Soon!

Mark your calendars for our second annual Loma Verde Family Bingo Night and Book Fair on Friday, 1/30 from 5:30-7:00 in the auditorium and library.

Every Minute Counts!

Did you know that being just 5 minutes late each day can add up to a significant loss of learning time over the course of the school year? Every minute matters—especially in the morning when routines are set and learning begins.

Please take a moment to talk with your child about the importance of arriving at school on time every day. Building strong habits now sets the tone for a successful day and a successful year!

Here’s what you need to know:

  • Line-Up Time: 2nd-6th grade students should be lined up on the blacktop by 7:55 AM. TK-1st grade students should be in the auditorium by 7:55 AM.
  • Start Time: Classes begin promptly at 8:00 AM.
  • Gate Closure: For the safety and security of our campus, all gates will close at 8:00 AM.

After 8:00 AM, students must enter through the office and will be marked tardy.

Let’s work together to help every student make the most of their learning time. Thank you for your continued support!

PARKING, DROP-OFF, AND PICK-UP

Arrival & Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during drop-off and pick-up. To keep everyone safe and things running smoothly:

  • Use only the designated drop-off/pick-up zones.
  • If you need to leave your car, park in the lot—not the bus loop.
  • No dogs on campus during arrival or dismissal.
  • Do not park in RESERVED or staff spaces.
  • Students must walk bikes on sidewalks.

Morning Drop-Off Times:

  • 7:15–7:55 AM for students eating breakfast
  • 7:30–8:00 AM for all others
2nd-6th grader students line up on the blacktop and are picked up by teachers at 8:00 AM. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00—students arriving after this time are marked tardy. TK-1st grade students sit in the auditorium at their assigned table. The teacher will pick up the students at 8:00 a.m.

SDC Preschool & Preschool: Follow your teacher’s specific drop-off and pick-up instructions.

Afternoon Pick-Up:

  • Students not picked up by 2:45 PM (or 1:15 PM on minimum days) will be taken to the office and must be signed out.
  • Parents must sign into the Raptor System to enter the campus to drop off their student beginning 1/2026. Parents must exit by the first bell at 7:55 am.

Let’s all remember to be patient, kind, and considerate—thank you for helping us keep Loma Verde safe and welcoming for everyone!

Gently Used Uniforms Needed

Has your child outgrown their school uniform? The Loma Verde Health Office needs donations of clean uniform clothes to have on hand for children who need to change clothes. If you have any clean children’s uniform shirts, shorts, pants, or skirts that you no longer need, please bring them to the health office. We are also accepting donations of new, packaged underwear for this purpose.

BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:55. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. Students may NOT share food at school. All students eat free lunch. Click here to see the breakfast and lunch menus and nutritional information.
