Saturday Scholars Fall Session Begins Soon!
We’re excited to welcome students to the Saturday Scholars Fall Session, beginning October 18! This special program gives Loma Verde students the chance to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) topics beyond the classroom.
For new students and families, Saturday Scholars offers hands-on learning with the Navy’s top medical technicians. Over four Saturdays—October 18, October 25, November 1, and November 8—students will explore grade-level STEM topics through research, experiments, and engaging activities that support classroom learning.
For returning students, the program increases academic challenge with a focus on public speaking, model building, and research—helping students grow academically, socially, and intellectually.
Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! To sign up, please see Mr. Hemmingway or visit the front office.
Thank you for supporting your child’s learning journey!

Birthday Celebrations & CVESD Wellness Policy
Celebrating Birthdays the Healthy Way at CVESD 🎉🍎
At CVESD, we’re proud to support student health and safety through our Wellness Policy. As part of this commitment, we kindly ask that no celebratory food items be brought to school during the day for birthday celebrations. English Wellness Policy Spanish Wellness Policy
Please also avoid making arrangements to distribute food before or after school on campus. Many of our students have food allergies, and even a small exposure—such as to peanuts—can cause a serious reaction in just seconds.
🎈 Instead, we encourage fun and creative non-food ways to celebrate, like special pencils, stickers, or a classroom activity. These alternatives help ensure every Wildcat stays safe and included.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, healthy, and joyful environment for all!

Please Monitor What Your Child Watches on TV, Videos, and Games
Partnering for a Peaceful School Community 🌟
Parents and guardians, you play a key role in helping us create a safe and respectful environment at school. One way to support this is by monitoring the videos, shows, and games your child watches and plays.
🎮📺 Some media may include content that isn’t suitable for young children, and we want to ensure that all students feel safe and comfortable at school. Play fighting, simulating weapons, or discussing inappropriate content is not allowed on campus.
For helpful tips and reviews, Common Sense Media is a fantastic resource for navigating parenting in the digital age. Thank you for helping us build a kind, peaceful, and inclusive community for all Wildcats!

Parent CABE Conferences Coming Up!
Loma Verde parents are invited to attend the annual CABE Mini-Conference at Otay Ranch High School on Saturday, October 25, 2025. If you would like to attend, Loma Verde parent involvement funds will cover the cost. Please notify our Community School Coordinator, Ms. Elsie, in room 403 if you are interested by 10/17/25.

Loma Verde Halloween Character Parade – Friday, 10/31
Loma Verde’s Halloween Character Parade
📅 Friday, October 31
🕣 8:15 AM
Students are welcome to wear costumes to school! Please follow these guidelines when selecting a costume:
- Faces must remain uncovered.
- Costumes should be tasteful and age-appropriate for an elementary school setting. Our youngest students are just 3 years old—please avoid anything scary or referencing shows/games not suitable for young children.
- No blood, gore, or graphic elements.
- No fake weapons (guns, swords, knives, etc.) or anything resembling a weapon.
- Costumes must be manageable without adult assistance.
- If you’re unsure whether a costume is appropriate, ask your teacher for guidance.
🎭 Students participating in the parade should arrive at school in costume and remain in costume throughout the day.
📚 Students who choose not to participate will be supervised in the library.
👨👩👧👦 Parents and guardians are welcome to attend! Please sign in at the office upon arrival.
