Hello Loma Verde Families,
We’re entering our third week of instruction, and we couldn’t be prouder of the hard work and amazing learning happening across campus! Over the past two weeks, our Loma Verde Wildcats have been exploring what it truly means to be a Wildcat.
Our Three Personal Standards help make Loma Verde a safe, respectful, and inspiring place to learn and grow. Please take a moment to review these traits with your children:
- Show Respect
- Make Good Decisions
- Solve Problems
We’re always on the lookout for Wildcats who go above and beyond in demonstrating these standards. We’ll be celebrating our Wildcats of the Week this Monday during our Blacktop Character Assembly.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Fun Family Friday and PTO meeting—what a fantastic turnout! Be sure to mark your calendars for the next one on September 5.
Also, don’t miss our important Loma Verde Curriculum Night on Thursday, August 7, with two sessions available:
🕠 5:30–6:15 PM
🕕 6:15–7:00 PM
This is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn about grade-level content standards, and hear important school updates. School spirit items will also be available for purchase that evening.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful week, Wildcat families!

2025-2026 School Site Council Parent & Community Member Elections
Congratulations to the parents elected by our community to serve on the Loma Verde School Site Council!
We appreciate their dedication to supporting our school and students. The five parent/community representatives on this important committee are:
- Faustino Lopez
- Lakota Hollins
- Sabrina Guitron
- Ceasar Carreno
- Sara Stohl
These representatives meet monthly with elected Loma Verde staff members and the principal to make key decisions regarding our School Safety Plan, School Plan for Student Achievement, and other important school finance matters. Guests are always welcome to attend these meetings. 👉 [Click here to view the meeting schedule for the year.]

Important School Policies and Reminders
- 📘 Stay Informed Click on the LV 2025–26 Parent-Student Handbook for everything you need to know about school policies, procedures, and resources.
- Uniform Policy: Students must wear their school uniform daily unless a Uniform Waiver has been submitted to the office.
- Toys and Electronics: Students should not bring toys, cards, or unnecessary gadgets unless they have been approved by the classroom teacher.
- Water Bottles: Please only send plain water in student water bottles. No Gatorade, Prime, juice, etc., as these beverages stain carpets and attract pests. We have a new bottle filler next to room 406 to fill up water bottles.
- Food Sharing: No sharing of food is allowed.
- No Gum or Candy: Please ensure that students do not bring gum or candy to school.
- Label Personal Items: Be sure to label lunch boxes, water bottles, and sweaters with your child’s name to help ensure they are returned if misplaced.

PARKING, DROP-OFF, AND PICK-UP
Arrival & Dismissal Reminders – Thank You for Your Support!
All of us at Loma Verde want to thank our families and community members in advance for your patience and understanding as we work to safely accommodate the many vehicles arriving each morning and afternoon.
🚗 Drop-Off & Pick-Up Guidelines:
- Please use the designated drop-off and pick-up zones only.
- If you need to leave your vehicle, park in the parking lot—not in the bus loop.
- Do not park in RESERVED spaces or the staff parking lot.
- No dogs are allowed on campus during arrival and dismissal times.
- Students must walk their bikes on the sidewalk.
🕒 Drop-Off Times:
- 7:15–7:50 AM for students eating breakfast on campus
- 7:30–8:00 AM for students not eating breakfast
Students will line up on the blacktop between 7:30–8:00 AM, supervised by Loma Verde staff. Each class has a designated line-up area, and teachers will pick up their students at 8:00 AM, when instruction begins.
Students arriving after 8:00 AM are considered tardy.
👶 Kinder, TK, SDC Preschool, and Preschool Families:
Please follow your teacher’s specific instructions for drop-off procedures.
🕝 Dismissal Times:
- Students not picked up by 2:45 PM (or 1:15 PM on minimum days) will be escorted to the office and must be signed out by an authorized adult.
- Parents may enter campus between 2:30–2:45 PM (or 1:00–1:15 PM on minimum days) to pick up their child outside the classroom.
- Gates will be locked promptly at 2:45 PM (1:15 PM on minimum days).
💛 For everyone’s safety, please remember to be patient, kind, and considerate.
Thank you for helping us keep Loma Verde safe and welcoming for all!

Please visit this page for helpful resources on improving your child’s attendance: https://www.cvesd.org/parents/attendance-information.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
LET’S IMPROVE OUR ATTENDANCE AT LOMA VERDE THIS YEAR!
Attendance is crucial for your child’s success. Students should only miss school if they are sick. If your child has symptoms, they can return to school once they have been fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, and their symptoms are improving. Students do not need to be completely symptom-free to return. If you need independent study for a special circumstance, please contact us.

Arriving on Time
Please ensure your child arrives by 7:55 a.m. and is lined up on the blacktop (for 1st–6th grade) or by the classroom (for TK–Kindergarten). If they arrive after 8:00 a.m., they will be marked tardy.
Secure Campus Reminder
At 8:00 a.m., we begin a secure campus. Parents and guardians must exit promptly at this time. We appreciate your cooperation!
School Arrival Times
Students can arrive as early as 7:15 a.m.
FREE breakfast is available from 7:15 a.m. to 7:55 a.m. If students miss breakfast, Second Chance Breakfast is available during the first recess.
Reporting Absences
If your child is absent, it is important to call the office to report the reason for the absence at 619-420-3940. You can leave a voicemail or email us at lomaverdeschool@cvesd.org.
Absences that are not reported will be considered unexcused. After 3 unexcused absences or tardies, you will receive a truancy letter.
Early Pick-Up and Tardiness
If you pick up your child early or if they are tardy for personal reasons, this will be considered unexcused unless a valid reason (like a doctor’s note) is provided. We encourage you to schedule appointments during school breaks when possible.
Missing School Means Missing Learning!
Our school staff will be monitoring attendance closely. For students who are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of school or having excessive tardies), we will schedule SART (School Attendance Review Team) meetings, make phone calls, and conduct home visits to support improved attendance.
We truly appreciate your efforts in getting your child to school every day and on time!

BREAKFAST & SNACKS: FREE breakfast is available for all students from 7:15-7:55. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack from home to eat at morning recess. Students may NOT share food at school. All students eat free lunch. Click here to see the breakfast and lunch menus and nutritional information.
