Loma Verde chorus sang the National Anthem for our Kids Heart Challenge event on 10/26.

It was a busy week at Loma Verde!  We had great participation with our Red Ribbon Week – “Say No to Drugs” spirit days. Our week ended with our Kids Heart Challenge Jump Rope for Heart event.  Thank you to everyone that donated to help this worthwhile cause.

Monday, Oct. 29 – 5th & 6th grade Chess Club at lunch recess

Monday, Oct. 29 – 4th-6th grade Soccer Tryouts Day 1 – 3:00-3:45

Tuesday, Oct. 30 – Coffee with Parent to Parent: How to Grow Great Readers (Free parents workshop on supporting your child’s reading!) 9:00-9:30 a.m. at the Fairwinds Family Resource Center next to our campus. (Call 619-420-0468 to reserve your spot)

Tuesday, Oct. 30 – DAC/DELAC Parent Training: Achieve3000 @ ESSC Room C  – 11:00-11:45 (all are welcome to attend, lunch provided)

Tuesday, Oct. 30 – DAC/DELAC Meeting @ ESSC Room C – 12:00-2:00

Wednesday, Oct. 31 – Character Parade @ 1:45-2:15 on the blacktop.  Please adhere to all guideline regarding costumes.

ATTENTION PARENTS!
Your child can come to school IN their costume or bring it to change into by themselves.
A few reminders…

  • No costumes depicting violence
  • No props that resemble or could act as weapons
  • No bare midriffs
  • Facepaint is allowed.  However, facepaint that depicts violence or blood is NOT allowed.
  • Masks are permitted for the character parade walk only. However, masks that depict violence or blood are NOT allowed.
  • Parents you are welcome to come to the parade and watch, please sign into the office first and get a VISITORS PASS (ID required).

Thursday, Nov. 1 – Principal Coffee: Volunteer Training @ 8:15-9:00 a.m. in the auditorium.  Join us for refreshments and learn more about guidelines for volunteering at Loma Verde.

Thursday & Friday, Nov. 1-2 – Height and Weight Measurements for all K-6th graders

Thursday, Nov. 2 – 5th & 6th grade Chess Club at lunch recess

Our Loma Verde Fall Festival is on Friday, November 2nd from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  We have exciting new games, music, inflatables, a petting zoo, and good food!  We are still looking for volunteers to help out.  If you are able to give some of your time, please contact the school office.

  • Food tickets are $1 each
  • Game tickets are $0.50 each
  • Play wristbands are $10.00 each
  • Food and game packages will be available.

Saturday, Nov. 3 – Saturday Scholars 9:00-1:00

This year the Chula Vista Elementary School District is focusing on nurturing relationships through GRATITUDE.  As the principal of Loma Verde, I am so grateful for the wonderful staff, our amazing students and their families, and the community.  I am very excited to lead this school and look forward to an amazing year!

Scholastic Book Fair October 22-26, 2018 Students will preview the book fair on Monday.  The book fair will be open for sales Tuesday – Friday.

10/26 Jump Rope for Heart Event 8:15-9:15 Please collect your pledges and click here to Register Online .  Donation forms and money need to be returned to your teacher on 10/26.

10/26 Bike Rodeo 1:30-3:00   Loma Verde Rodeo flyer   Bring your bike and helmet to participate in this great event where everyone will improve their bike skills. Let’s show how it’s done! Let’s have fun! Students must have a signed permission slip to participate.

10/27 Saturday Scholars 9:00-1:00 at Loma Verde.

IMPORTANT NEW GATE PROCEDURES:  SAFETY is our number 1 priority  The front gate and back gate will open at 2:30 pm Monday-Thursday and at 1:00 on Friday.  If any parent/guardian would like to come on campus during the school day, they must check into the main office (with ID) and get a visitor pass.  Thank you for understanding that we need to know who is on campus during the school day.

PARENT ACADEMY – Thank you to all our Loma Verde families that joined us for the 4th Annual Parent Academy on 10/13!  We appreciate you joining us for a great day of learning!

Upcoming Events:

10/30 DAC/DELAC Parent Training 11:00-11:45 and Committee Meeting 12:00-2:00.  We meet at the CVESD District Office room C.

10/31 Character Parade 1:45-2:20 on the blacktop.  More information to come out this week.

11/1 Coffee with the Principal/Parent Volunteer Training 8:15-9:00 in the auditorium.

11/2 Fall Festival 3:00-6:00 Food – Music – Games – Fun!  $1 food tickets, $0.50 game tickets, $10.00 play wristband.  Food and game packages are available.  We hope to see you!  Volunteers are needed.  Please contact your child’s teacher or the office if you are able to help.

11/5 ELAC Meeting 8:15-9:15 Topic: English Learner Reclassification information.  All parent are welcome.  Interpretation available in Spanish.
